Gary has previously won the Dr. Edgar Ewing Brandon Award twice and the Phi Award from Phi Kappa Tau National, and two other service awards from RIT. For his guidance in the development of the fraternity, Dr. Edgar Ewing Brandon is known as the "Architect of Phi Kappa Tau." The fraternity gives the Edgar Ewing Brandon Award to outstanding faculty advisors in the fraternity each year. The Phi award is presented to a Brother for outstanding service to one’s own chapter.
"All of these awards and recognition are great, but the real reward comes from assisting students in getting through the maze we call RIT!"
This award is named in honor of Mrs. Dancy Duffus, RIT Trustee Emeritus, who has long been a staunch supporter of RIT and its staff, and who energetically advocated to establish this Staff Recognition program.
Dancy Duffus presented this award to Gary for his contribution to RIT, its students and the Dining Services Department.
Brother Gasper came to RIT in September of 1978, and became an Advisor to the Gamma Nu Chapter the follolwing school year. He was initiated as an Alumni Brother on January 20th, 1980. Gary left Gamma Nu as an active advisor in 1986 but decided to come back when fellow advisor, recently retired Provost, and newly inducted Phi Kappa Tau Hall of Fame Member, Brother Stan McKenzie asked for him to return to his former post in January 1995. He served as advisor to the Gamma Nu Chapter for 11 more years until 2006, when he stepped down to focus on his final years with Dining Services.
Please join us in offering our congratulations to Gary!
